6 Mar 20: Loch Barcasaig - Step It Up

A record number (14)  of very damp walkers braved the elements today.

We walked through almost continuous rain, down to the beach at Loch Bharcasaig.

The rain eased, and finally ceased as we made our way back to our cars at Orbost Farm.

Everyone beat a hasty retreat to the Dunvegan Hotel for coffee and cakes and an interesting discussion about what other outings we would like to participate in.

Despite the weather, everyone seemed to enjoy the afternoon. Thank you Charlie once again for organising

As well as the largest turnout so far, this was arguably our wettest walk in the Step it Up history.   This was not a shower, this was hail, with a bit of rain, yet Ray still managed brilliant photos and we all still managed brilliant blether, oblivious of the elements.

24 Jan 20: Erisco Village - Step it Up

Erisco village circuit looking over Tulm Bay, Island and Duntulm Castle.

13 adventurous walkers enjoyed the, mostly dry weather, walk. A bit wet underfoot in places but altogether a very pleasant walk with great company and much blether.

Lovely walk, good views, great company and exceptional lemon drizzle cake afterwards!

Duntulm Castle in distance.

Tulm Island with Gearran, Gaeilavore & Fladaigh Chuain.

10 Jan 20 - Storr Loch to Bearreraig Bay

Today's Step It Up (soon to be renamed Walk In A Gale) Group walk.

Storr Loch to Bearreraig Bay lookout

followed by the new Lealt Falls lookout platform

and Kilt Rock. Another good walk, thanks to all!

3 Jan 20 - Cuidrach to Waternish

13 adventurous walkers gathered at the disused quarry on the Cuidrach road for the start of the FIRST WALK OF 2020.

We followed the road down to Cuidrach

and followed the coast North.

The little frequented coast north of Cuidrach,

hidden bays,

classic raised beaches,

outcrop with cormorants, stunning scenery

Fantastic views across Loch Snizort to Waternish

with several hidden little coves along the way.  As the terrain became more hazardous the main party turned back along the way we had come.

Two adventurous souls, who shall be nameless, carried on a little further up the coast. We turned inland on reaching a fence across our way, and followed the fence across rough country, to meet the main party again at Cuidrach House.

... saw 3 sea eagles, four dogs and didn't see a partridge in a rowan tree

20 Dec 19 - Aros

A Step It Up walk in the forest behind Aros.

Nice walk, pleasant company and conversation

followed (of course!) by tea, toffee soup and goodies in Aros.

6 Dec 19: Step It Up - Coral Beaches

[thanks to Ray for the photos and most of the words]

Today, despite the threatening weather, six brave souls braved the path to The Coral Beaches. Luckily only a few drops of rain dared to fall until we were all safely back in our cars.
Good company and lively conversation during the walk, followed by tea/coffee and cakes at the Dunvegan Hotel where we put the world to rights and complained about everything we could think of.
Great afternoon out.
