Uninhabited Island, Nature's Playground

Isle of Oronsay,15th July 2014

Lesser Spearwort (Ranunculus flammula) - identified by Steve.

Meadow Pipit (Anthus pratensis)

The tidal causeway joining Skye to the Island of Oronsay. Reminiscent of Moses guiding the Israelites over the Red Sea to the Promised Land, only not quite so exciting.

One of many sadly stranded Moon Jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) which were present in large numbers around Skye this year. Apparently the high sea temperatures have resulted in the appearance of billions of them off the coast of the British isles in 2014.

Captain Zircon still gathering strategic information for the invasion.

A Moldovian standoff between an Ovis aries and a Canis lupus (Fergus) with a long record of violent crime.

A tiny Leafhopper (Cicadellidae) (thanks to iSpot).

Greyling (Happarchia semele) (thanks to iSpot)

Interesting layering on the southern cliffs

Grass of Parnassus (Parnassia palustris) - identified by Steve.

God's been doodling again; wondering where his design of the human race went so disastrously wrong.

Or is it the complex interplay of intermolecular forces and gravity?

Iron-containing mineral.

iSpotted as possibly a Hoverfly (Eristalinus aeneus - also apparently known as Large Spotty-Eyed Dronefly - well worth memorizing as a gross insult).
